If you live in the Sydney metro area you can drive up on the morning of the workshop but you will have to allow at least 2 hours to get to St. Albans. Also, you need to factor in and allow additional time as the main route in goes via the Webbs Creek or Wisemans Ferry. Depending on your arrival there might be a delay at the ferry.
Instead, why not make it a a two-day trip by camping overnight in St Albans. There is ample camping space for all musicians and a festive atmosphere around town on Friday and Saturday night. Perhaps a musician or two might be inspired to bring out their fiddle
